Heavy Snow Storms

As a T-NET or ALT here in Japan you should know at least 2 to 3 routes going to school or to your workplace. Just in case your usual route gets a problem you have an alternative way. So, you won't get late or in trouble.

Early morning, there was heavy snow all over Kansai. Although there was already an advisory the night before regarding on possible suspension of trains. I woke up early and prepared to go to school. As they said, expect the unexpected. Good thing I'm five minutes earlier (I usually take the past seven train.) than my daily schedule. I checked with Mr. Google how's the train on my way to work and he said there are suspensions in my route and suggested another route (the expensive one). I took the expensive one with many transfers. I sent a message to my company for them to inform the school that I will be late. When I arrived at school, I apologize to the vice-principal because I'm almost 40 minutes late. She said that it was alright because the school adjusted the schedule because there are some students and teachers also got stranded.

Moral lesson: Know very well the location of your workplace. For alternative routes and always keep aside a budget for this purpose.

Note:

Japan has many train lines. In the Kansai region, the JR line, Kintetsu line,  and Keihan line (as far as I know) are the main lines aside from the chikatetsu (subway lines). If one of them got a problem much better to find another option to your destination.
